Ferry Approaching Failaka

Soldiers are the only permanent residents on this beautiful island left devastated by the Gulf War. It is still worth making the effort to view what is left of the ruins from settlements of the Bronze Age Dilmuns and Hellenistic Greeks, who left many treasures from which their past could be reconstructed. The museum, however, was destroyed, and only a few broken shards of pottery are left.

Failaka is 20 kilometers northeast of Salmiya. It is twelve kilometers long, six kilometers wide, and very flat. To find the Failaka ferry, go to Ras Al Ardh in Salmiya, 100 yards east of the Kuwait Sea Club, and down from the Marzouk Roundabout. It sails

every day except Friday at 8:30 a.m. and returns at 12:00. It costs KD1 each way and KD1 extra if you bring a bicycle. Swimming is not permitted.
